Otto Piene Light ballet


Summary

A pair of light-bearing robots capable of performing ballet. For the memorial of Otto Piene, a prominent MIT artist, I helped develop a duo of semi-autonomous omni-wheeled robots that carry light sculptures throughout various choreographed sequences.

Experience Components

Otto Piene was an innovative German artist who experimented with many different creative and technological methods of creating art, particularly within the medium of light. In tribute to his famous LichtBallet, MIT organized a memorial for Piene that expanded his dream to include mobile light sources.
